PQ reps are different from meditation and mindfulness in that they train the brain how to better cope with being present during your busy work day 10 seconds at a time. For some, meditation works only in their meditation space. We haven’t trained our brain to take mindfulness from the meditation cushion out into the real world. PQ reps teach us how to take that mindfulness break no matter where we are or what we are doing. It helps us to learn how to activate the sage area of our brain with our eyes open in the middle of challenges of the day.

Self-command
10 seconds at a time of self command is often easier for people to grasp initially then the big concepts of meditation and mindfulness. Since there are so many definitions of what meditation is or what mindfulness is, it is hard sometimes to get to the core of what those ideas are. And the core is self command at 10 seconds at a time. By learning how to do this throughout your waking hours, especially during challenges of the day, you learn how to disrupt the automatic thought patterns you have that are most often fueled by your saboteurs (your inner judge and critic). We learn the power of re-centering and re-grounding continuously throughout the day and not just when we are at home relaxing or in a meditation space.
