Releasing Perfectionism

Things rarely go according to plan. If you have a perfectionist outlook, this can cause a lot of anxiety and stress. Releasing perfectionism is possible. Adopt a surfer mentality and go with the flow. Be more of a surfer and less of a controller. Stop fighting the surf. Go with it and turn it into a gift or opportunity. Notice the greater ease and flow in your life with this approach. Notice the greater joy and peace. Appreciate what is right. Let go of what didn’t go according to “plan”.

Stickler Mentality

Do you have a stickler in your head? It’s that voice that says if you can’t do it perfectly, don’t do it at all. It leads to feelings of constant frustration and disappointment with yourself and others for not living up to ideal standards. The lie the Stickler tells you is that the task must be perfect or it is wrong. The majority of your daily stress could be the Stickler telling you that you’re not good enough and causing you to feel shame and guilt. Perhaps adjust your expectation or approach. Try not to be as overly anxious when things don’t go according to plan. Make adjustments with less panic and drain on your self and others by anticipating that these things happen. It’s just how life works.

Figuring how life works is exhausting and stressful and is so not necessary. Quiet those voices by building mental fitness through 10 seconds of mindfulness at a time. Releasing perfectionism is definitely possible. Give it a try.

Surf through what life sends your way.
